Job description
We are expanding our Tech team with a Cloud Architect role to help scale our Cloud Ops at Fast Track!
The Cloud Architect will manage AWS (and other cloud accounts) to ensure cost efficiency, security, and compliance. They will also work with producers to plan and implement cloud-based solutions, monitor and optimise cloud costs, ensure that all cloud resources are following least privilege principles, and keep up-to-date on the latest cloud technologies as well as building & leading a high-performance cloud team.
The ideal candidate will also have experience with Kubernetes, big data technologies, security best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies.
The Cloud Architect will report to the CTO and will be a key part of the Tech team.
The goals of the role are to:
Implement and report on cost optimisations monthly.
- Responsible for hosting economics against our customers, reporting on
actual costs vs billable costs.
implement/suggest improvements/come up with packages for our products
We are always running a supported version of our tech stack from Kubernetes to ec2 instances.
Implementing and managing least privilege access.
CI/CD Pipeline Implementation & Management
Building & Leading a high-performance cloud team
Managing AWS (and other cloud accounts) to ensure cost efficiency, security, and compliance
Working closely with the CTO and producers for planning and executing large-scale projects beyond the individual capacity of the cloud architect.
Managing the economics of hosting related to our products, aiming to minimise financial losses while maintaining transparent pricing for customers.
Ensuring that all cloud resources are following least privilege principles
Keeping up-to-date on the latest cloud technologies
Work with development and operations teams to ensure the CI/CD processes align with best practices and support continuous delivery across cloud infrastructures.
Accountable for hosting economies across our products and working closely with the CTO.
Building, developing and mentoring a highly performant cloud team.
Job requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering
Minimum 1 year of experience in a leadership role within Cloud / DevOps teams.
They should demonstrate a high level of strategic thinking, proactive problem-solving skills, and a strong focus on operational efficiency and security.
They should be adept at collaborating with different teams and be committed to continuous learning and improvement in the cloud computing domain.
Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes and Golang
Strong understanding of infrastructure as code
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of inspiring teams, driving innovation, and articulating technical vision to non-technical stakeholders.
